Leadership Assessment
Leadership Development

Leadership Assessments.

A clear-eyed evaluation of your individual leaders and whole teams — strengths, gaps, and a concrete plan to close them. Built to inform development, succession, and hiring decisions with evidence, not gut feel. It’s a foundation of our Organizational work — the honest read a company relies on before it develops, promotes, or hires.

Overview

The most expensive decisions are the ones you make on a hunch.

Promote the wrong leader, and the cost isn’t one salary — it’s a team, a year, and the credibility of the next call you make.

Leadership assessment is a rigorous, evidence-based evaluation of the individual leaders and whole teams a company is counting on — their real strengths, the gaps that will slow them down, and a concrete plan to close them.

It exists because leadership decisions are high-stakes and low-information. You are usually betting on how someone will perform in a role they have never held, under pressure they have never faced — and the wager sits at the exact point where a company’s performance, continuity, and risk are decided. Instinct gets you part of the way; it is often right, and it is always fast. But instinct also carries bias, blind spots, and the pull of who is most visible rather than who is most ready. The quiet, capable leader gets overlooked. The confident one who interviews well gets the nod. Six months later you are managing the fallout — a stalled team, a missed year, and a credibility cost on the next call you make.

That is the challenge clients bring us: a promotion, a succession bench, or a finalist decision that is too consequential to settle on a hunch, and no shared evidence to test the hunch against. A rigorous assessment does not replace judgment — it sharpens it. It gives you an evidence base to check your gut against, a common language to compare people fairly, and the confidence to defend a decision when it is questioned in the boardroom. The outcome is a business that puts the right people in its most important seats: fewer costly surprises, stronger benches behind the roles that matter most, and leadership choices that compound performance rather than quietly erode it.

What We Do

Know exactly where your leaders stand.

You can’t develop what you haven’t measured, and you shouldn’t promote on hope. Our assessments give you an honest read on the people you’re counting on — their real strengths, the gaps that will slow them down, and what it will take to get them ready. We assess individuals and teams rigorously, fairly, and with the courage to tell you the truth — from the perspective of people who have sat in the seat and made the call themselves.

Every engagement starts by defining what strong leadership looks like for this specific role, team, and moment — the bar is set in the open, so the read is fair and the findings comparable across internal and external people alike. We then gather the evidence through structured interviews, role-relevant exercises, and 360-style input, and our job is to turn that data into signal you can act on rather than a score with no story behind it. A typical engagement ends not with a verdict but with a development plan — specific, prioritized, and owned — and every leader assessed hears their results directly and developmentally. The same discipline scales from a single leader to a whole team, and answers questions from “is this person ready for the step up” to “which of these two finalists fits the seat.”

The work covers the decisions where being right matters most:

Individual leader assessment

A deep read on a single leader’s capability, judgment, and readiness for what’s next.

Leadership team assessment

How your team actually functions together — trust, alignment, and where it breaks down.

Succession & bench readiness

Who’s ready now, who’s ready with work, and who isn’t — before you need to know.

Hiring & selection assessment

An objective evaluation of candidates against the role, so you hire on evidence.

360-degree feedback

Structured input from those above, beside, and below a leader, distilled into signal.

Development planning

Every assessment ends with a plan — specific, prioritized, and owned.

How It Works

Rigorous in, useful out.

01

Define

We agree on what strong leadership looks like for this role, team, and moment.

02

Evaluate

We gather the evidence — interviews, exercises, and structured feedback.

03

Deliver

You get a clear picture and a development plan people can actually act on.

What You Get

Decisions you can defend.

An assessment is only worth it if it changes what you do next. Ours is built to.

Clarity on your people

An honest, evidence-based picture of every leader you assess — no flattery, no guesswork.

Confident decisions

Development, succession, and hiring choices grounded in evidence you can stand behind.

A path forward

Not just a verdict, but a concrete plan to turn potential into performance.

Who It’s For

When the answer has to be right.

Before a big promotion

You’re moving someone into a role that’s a real step up, and you want to know they’re ready — not just hope so.

Building the succession bench

You need a clear-eyed read on who’s ready now, who’s ready with development, and where the gaps are.

Choosing between finalists

Two strong candidates, one seat — and a decision that’s too consequential to settle on interviews alone.

Our Standard
We assess people the way real decisions get made: rigorously, fairly, and with the courage to tell you the truth.
  • A standard set in the open

Strong is defined for the role before anyone is evaluated, so the read is fair and findings compare across internal and external people alike.

  • Evidence over instinct

Structured interviews, exercises, and 360 input give the board a base to check the gut against and defend the call when it is questioned.

  • Right people in the key seats

Fewer costly surprises and stronger benches behind the roles that matter most, so leadership choices compound performance instead of eroding it.

Questions

What leaders ask us first.

What does an assessment actually involve?

It depends on the question you’re answering, but typically a mix of structured interviews, role-relevant exercises, and 360-style input — all measured against a clear definition of what strong looks like for the role.

How honest is the feedback to the person?

Direct and developmental. We don’t flatter and we don’t ambush — every leader we assess gets a clear, respectful picture of their strengths and gaps, and a plan they can act on.

Can you assess an external candidate and an internal one on the same terms?

Yes — that’s much of the value. A common standard lets you compare people fairly regardless of where they came from, so the decision rests on evidence rather than familiarity.

Is the goal to pass or fail people?

No. The goal is clarity. Sometimes that means confirming a strong bet, sometimes flagging a risk worth managing — and always leaving you better informed than a gut call would.

What to Expect

Rigorous, but never a black box.

A defined standard first

Before we evaluate anyone, we agree on what strong looks like for this role and moment. The bar is set in the open, so the read is fair and the findings are comparable.

Evidence, then interpretation

Structured interviews, role-relevant exercises, and 360 input give us the data. Our job is to turn it into signal you can act on — not a score with no story behind it.

A conversation, not a verdict

Every leader assessed hears their results directly and developmentally. You get a picture you can defend; they get a plan they can own.

How We’re Different
Anyone can score a leader. We tell you what to do with the score — because we’ve sat in the seat and made the call ourselves.
  • A plan, not a verdict

Every engagement ends with a prioritized, owned development plan, so the finding turns into performance rather than a filed report.

  • Signal you can act on

The data is read into clear guidance on the decision in front of you, not a score with no story behind it.

  • Judgment from the seat

Read by people who have made the promotion and hiring calls themselves, so the advice reflects real stakes, not theory.

The Three Ways We Help

Assessment reads the organization. We help two other ways.

Evaluating a company’s leaders and teams is our Organizational work. What the findings reveal often points toward coaching for an individual’s career, or support for the person behind the results.
